In January 2020 we interviewed 20 IT leaders in the New York area, and learned that spear-phishing emails that employees may mistake to be from a trusted co-workers, pose a huge risk to businesses.
One CIO explained, “If we teach company employees to be suspicious of emails from their co-workers, our business would cease. So, what keeps me awake at night is knowing that, despite our advanced email security measures, one of my users can still mistake a malicious email to be from a trusted co-worker and unknowingly trigger a fatal cyber-attack against us.”
IT leaders are also concerned that best email security solutions on the market use AI and machine learning algorithms that require lots of private user data but are not fool-proof.
